The problems with cheap web hosts
Cheap web hosts are a dime a dozen. There are plenty of hosts that offer unlimited space, domains, and bandwidth all for less than ten dollars a month. Unless the WordPress site you are running is an experiment, it is best to avoid using one of the cheap web hosts. Here are a few reasons why:
Unlimited is not unlimited – Although the word unlimited is mentioned for almost everything, in reality, it never works out that way. There are clauses that allow the host to shut down the site and/or account in the event it overloads the server. What do you think happens when your latest post goes viral and gets hit by thousands of people at the same time? Your account gets shut down and you are asked to move to a higher package.
Limited resources – These hosts tend to pack on as many accounts as they can on a single server. This results in severe resource limitations for each individual account on that server. WordPress and some of its plugins can at times require a significant amount of memory. That is why your visitors get the white screen of death.
Security – This is another aspect where you pay for what you get. Cheap hosts tend to not focus on security and as a result, your sites are going to be targeted by hackers, DDoS attacks, and malware injection. This means that time spent on the site and its content will instead have to be put to additional security into your site.
